OSiT’s approach to Environment
We believe everyone has a moral responsibility to look after our planet. From a business perspective there are also legal obligations that we proactively meet, and try to exceed, too.
Our ESG report provides detailed information about our energy consumption and our annual impact and achievements, which in turn inform our future targets and how these assist with building our net zero strategy.
OSiT’s direct environmental impacts are primarily due to office energy and water consumption, and waste. We try to reduce this as much as possible and have invested heavily across our portfolio to make our centres super energy efficient:
- Since June 2022 all buildings in the OSiT group use LED lighting throughout.
- PIR (motion sensor) lighting installed throughout all OSiT buildings, automatically switching off lights when a room is not in use.
- Air conditioning/heating time management in all buildings to maximise the off time’ of units.
- Plastic free refreshments in all OSiT buildings.
- Paperless OSiT offices.
- Water Reduction Strategy in place across all buildings.
- All London buildings achieved EPC rating ‘B’ in December 2023.
- Average 38%overall waste recycling across the OSiT portfolio – we are targeting 50% by March 2025. What cannot be recycled is responsibly incinerated rather than being sent to landfill.
Since 2021 we have used Open Energy Market to supply our buildings with green energy. In addition, they translate the total footprint of OSiT’s energy-contracted buildings and (through their partnership with Cool Earth) they fund the protection of an equivalent area of rainforest in northern Peru.
Our approach to monitoring (and ultimately reducing) our environmental impact continues to develop. In 2022 we committed to further measuring our consumption and carbon footprint and following this we partnered with Planet Mark to better measure, track and reduce our impact on the environment. We received our Planet Mark certification in June 2023 and in November we were highly commended for our efforts at their awards ceremony. We continue to work with them to measure and reduce our carbon footprint and to plan out our towards being a Net zero business across all our centres.

Green Team
Our Green Team is formed of 6 environmentally and socially conscious OSiTeers (one in each of our centres) with a real passion for promoting sustainability and a greener way of life, and who want to have a positive impact on the world and lead by example.
In 2024 we will be providing further training for our Green Team members to enhance their knowledge of climate action for businesses and to support their understanding of OSiT’s ESG projects. Following analysis of our waste flow in recent years, we will also be launching a waste reduction project across the business, with the aim of increasing the amount each centre recycles, and this will be spearheaded by the Green Team.
