Serviced offices in Edinburgh news: 'Focus on mobile and online commerce'

Sales companies operating out of offices to rent in Edinburgh may wish to focus on mobile and online commerce, following the advice of one expert.

Ben Sillitoe, editor of industry publication Retail Gazette, noted that these are a driving force for the industry.

He pointed out that companies such as ASOS.com, eBay, Amazon and Play.com are "major success stories" and "bricks and mortar retailers" are also expanding into this market.

"Huge technological advancement" has occurred in this area due to customer demand, he said.

"That is where the consumer is and these are the platforms where the consumer wants to shop," the expert declared.

Mr Sillitoe concluded that "people working within e-commerce and the e-tail sector are particularly content" as they see it performing well in the future.

Data from the Retail Eyes and Retail Gazette Salary Survey showed that 64 per cent of employees in these industries noticed an increase in their basic wage in the 16 months after January 2010 - when the UK left recession - compared with only 48 per cent in goods selling as a whole.
