Women make better managers!
Recently, there’s been a lot of publicity around the gender pay gap workers face but how unfounded is it? If men are paid more than their female counterparts, why is that and why has it still not changed?
Professor Øyvind L Martinsen and Professor Lars Glasø, who work at the BI Norwegian Business School in Oslo, may have thrown a new point into the debate. Research done by the pair has shown that women are better leaders, compared to their male colleagues!
Over 2,900 managers had their personalities surveyed by the pair, with results showing that female managers scored higher across their five categories than their male counterparts.
Martinsen told Personnel Today: “Our results indicate that women naturally rank higher, in general, than men in their abilities to innovate and lead with clarity and impact.
“These findings pose a legitimate question about the construction of management hierarchy and the current dispensation of women in these roles.”
